Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Agricultural Affairs Department, in collaboration with Hassad Food Company, announced the opening of the “Flowers Exhibition” as part of the Umm Salal Winter Festival. The exhibition will run from Thursday, December 19, until Thursday, December 26th, 2024, at the Umm Salal Central Market.

The exhibition aims to showcase a diverse range of local flowers and plants that highlight Qatar’s natural biodiversity. It also focuses on supporting local farmers and encouraging the production of native flowers.

The exhibition aims to raise environmental awareness and promote sustainable agriculture locally. It will provide visitors with an opportunity to explore the beauty of local flowers, learn about cultivation techniques, and understand how to care for them. The exhibition will also serve as a platform to market local agricultural products related to flowers and plants, supporting farmers and national agricultural projects.

On this occasion, Mr. Youssef Khaled Al-Khalifi, Director of the Agricultural Affairs Department at the Ministry of Municipality, stated: ‘The opening of the Flower Exhibition, held from December 19th to 26th, 2024, as part of the first edition of the Umm Salal Winter Festival, aims to support local farm owners, flower nurseries, and ornamental plant producers in Qatar. This event provides a valuable marketing platform for their products, including various vegetable seedlings and flowers, particularly during this peak agricultural season in Qatar. This initiative not only enhances their economic returns but also encourages increased local production. The exhibition serves as a prime destination for visitors, offering them all their needs from seedlings and plants under one roof.’”

Mr. Mohamed Ghanim Al-Kubaisi, General Manager of Aswaq for Food Facilities Management Company, also commented, “We are proud to launch the ‘Flowers Exhibition’ as part of the Umm Salal Winter Festival, in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipality at Umm Salal Central Market. The exhibition reflects our commitment to supporting local agriculture and promoting environmental sustainability in Qatar.”

The Umm Salal Winter Festival will host several important events and exhibitions from November 21, 2024, to February 19, 2025, with the aim of highlighting the national identity and supporting local products.

The festival’s daily operating hours are divided into two periods: the morning session from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by the evening session from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. On Fridays, the morning session will be from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM, while the evening session remains unchanged

As part of Hassad Food Company’s commitment to supporting ‘Families of Home-Grown Projects,’ these families will continue to participate in the festival’s activities within the specially designated section to showcase their products, in collaboration with the Family Empowerment Department at the Ministry of Social Development and Family.
