Hassad joins World Union of Wholesale Markets _Press Release
Doha -Qatar: Hassad, Qatar’s premier investor in food and agribusiness announced that Aswaq for Food Facilities Management (a subsidiary of Hassad), recently joined The World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) as a premium member – making state of Qatar, the first in the gulf region to join union.
Eng. Mohamed Al Sadah, Hassad’s Chief Executive Officer commented “We are pleased that State of Qatar is the first country in the gulf region to join the World Federation of Wholesale Markets – through this membership, Aswaq will be able to access an international network of producers, distributors, suppliers, and wholesalers.
Ms. Eugenia Carrara, Secretary General of The World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM), commented during her visit to wholesale markets managed by Aswaq, “The food security strategy that Qatar government deployed these past years, specially through Hassad, is remarkable – the modernization of fresh food wholesale markets is a key component of it, and has proven already to be a big asset to support local production and strengthen the resilience of the perishable food supply chain.
With the membership, Aswaq looks forward to benefit from the latest trends and discussions in the fresh food industry and have access to online webinars about major issues related to wholesale and retail markets by experts in the sector.
The World Federation of Wholesale Markets WUWM, includes more than 220 members from 40 countries around the world, representing a group of global organizations concerned with food and fresh products. The union aims to exchange experiences between institutions to contribute to achieving food security for countries.
